Nearly 140,000 transactions at the SQDC in a week

The popularity of the Société québécoise du cannabis (SQDC) stores is not fading a week after the legalization of marijuana, so that it expects to have difficulty maintaining its branch network.

On Wednesday evening, after seven days of activity in the SQDC, some 84,850 sales of cannabis had been made at the branches of the Crown corporation. This means that about 12,000 people a day, on average, have walked through the doors of a shop to get cannabis.

In return, the SQDC website, which had a huge start on October 17 with 30,000 orders, saw its activities slow down. In total, 53,000 transactions have been completed online for a week.

As a result, 138,150 sales of cannabis products have been made since the legalization of marijuana.

The craze for cannabis in the wake of legalization has emptied stocks of dozens of products, both online and in physical stores.

"As things stand, maintaining the branch network will be a challenge," SQDC said Wednesday.

"The limited supply from suppliers and the limits of the production cycle cause, as expected, a scarcity of products offered in branch and online. We expect this situation to continue at different levels for the first few quarters of operation, "added the state-owned company.

The SQDC also explained that its first days of activity were plagued by delivery problems on the part of its suppliers. "The orders that the SQDC had planned to receive would have been enough to supply branches and online transactions. Producers will therefore have a huge amount of work to do to structure the supply of SQDC points of sale, "she warned.
