The Bible Museum removes five fake parchments from its exhibition

The Bible Museum, located in the US capital Washington D.C., had to remove from its display five scrolls that the exhibitors believed belonged to a famous collection of the Dead Sea.

German researchers tested fragments of these documents and concluded that they had characteristics that did not correspond to the time they were to come from.

The museum sent these documents to Germany last April following suspicions raised by the US news channel CNN. Experts were skeptical that the museum was able to get hold of such parchments.

Steve Green, the founder chairman of the museum's board, did not reveal how much his family had spent to obtain these documents, but fragments of such coveted texts can sell for millions of dollars, according to experts.

On the entire collection, however, some of the 16 pieces of parchment could be authentic, according to information reported by CNN.
