Federal gives green light to marine terminal project


The project to develop a marine terminal on the north shore of the Saguenay River, as part of the Arianne Phosphate mining project, received a boost from the federal government on Monday.

Minister of the Environment Catherine McKenna approved the project after a "comprehensive and rigorous environmental effects assessment" of the terminal by the Canadian Evaluation Agency. environmental.

The Director General of the Saguenay Port Authority, Carl Laberge, welcomed the news. However, he acknowledged in a statement that "there are other steps to take before the first shovel of earth".


The project had already received the approval of the Bureau d'audiences publiques sur l'envionnement du Québec in 2015.
