Trump was dissatisfied with Ryad's explanation

US President Donald Trump said on Monday that he was "not satisfied" with Ryad's explanation of the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, surprised by the month-long delay announced by the Saudis for the investigation.

"I'm not satisfied with what I've heard," Trump said from the White House gardens, adding that he had spoken to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

"We will know very soon," he added, referring to the murder of the 59-year-old journalist in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on 2 October.

"It's a long delay, there is no reason for that," he said, questioned about the one-month deadline put forward by Ryad to shed light on this case.

"We have people in Saudi Arabia, we have people in Turkey (...). We will know much more in the days to come, "he said.

After initially claiming that Jamal Khashoggi had left the living consulate, Ryad admitted, under pressure, that the journalist had been killed while claiming that it was an "unauthorized operation" by power, and of which Crown Prince "MBS" was not informed.

The Turkish press dismantled this line of defense on Monday. The Yeni Safak daily, close to power, claimed that a commando member who had killed Khashoggi repeatedly called the director of Crown Prince Bader Al-Asaker's office after the journalist's murder.
