An artificial intelligence summit will be held in Montreal for three years in a row, from 2019 to 2021.
Tourisme Montréal has announced a partnership with Inspired Minds, the London-based company that founded the Word Summit AI, for the Americas to be held in the city over three years.
"We are very proud to host the next World Summit AI. The quality of our research centers and the dynamism of our innovation ecosystem make Montreal the ideal city to discuss advances in the field of artificial intelligence, "said Mayor Valérie Plante.
Tourisme Montréal maintains that this agreement will attract 6,000 participants, which represents 32,500 overnight stays in Montreal hotels.
"I am extremely pleased that this collaboration between Tourisme Montréal and Inspired Minds has brought this wonderful news to Montreal. I would like to thank all of Montreal's partners in artificial intelligence, particularly Yoshua Bengio from the University of Montreal and Element IA for their essential collaboration in this type of approach, "said Yves Lalumière, President and Chief Executive Officer of Montreal Tourism.
In recent years, Montreal has made its mark in the field of artificial intelligence. Giants like Google, Microsoft, IBM, Samsung, and Facebook have chosen to establish research laboratories in this area in the city.
